60% Cupro 40% TENCELâ„¢ Lyocell
Cupro is a man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF) made by converting pre-consumer cotton lint waste into a fibre for textiles. We use Bemberg cupro, made by Asahi Kasei. This company sources their raw material from cottonseed oil production factories in India, Brazil, USA and Japan. They then use a process of dissolving and extruding fibres to create the cupro. Chemicals used in this part of the process are recycled, to reduce waste and create a closed-loop production system.
Asahi Kasei are taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint through initiatives such as sourcing up to 50% of their energy from renewable energy sources. They aim to reduce their carbon emissions by 30% by 2030 (2013 baseline).
TENCELâ„¢ Lyocell is a man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF), derived from wood pulp sourced from sustainably managed forests. It has a silk-like feel, fluid drape and comfortable breathability.
TENCELâ„¢ Lyocell fibres follow an environmentally responsible, closed loop production process, which transforms wood pulp into cellulosic fibres using high resource efficiency and low environmental impact compared to conventional methods of production. The spinning process recycles process water and reuses the solvent at a recovery rate of more than 99%.
Manufacturer: Jimmy Fashions (Zhejiang, China)
We have been working with Jimmy Fashions since 2010. They are a smaller, independent supplier with a focus on design and quality, and this is one of our longest standing supplier relationships. With owner Jimmy Shen and his team working closely with our Design and Production departments, this family-owned business has grown with ELK and now supplies much of our woven apparel.
In early 2024, Jimmy installed rooftop solar panels on his factory, and estimates more than 50% of the factory's electricity to come from this renewable source. The factory also undergoes annual SMETA social compliance audits, which are conducted by a third party and provide transparency into worker wellbeing and wages.
The Flekke Shirt is a relaxed fit throughout the entire garment.
Key fit points for this garment are the bust and length.
All garments are measured flat (not on body) and then doubled (except the length) to calculate the total circumference. To work out what size will suit you best, flat measure an item that fits you well and use this as a guide. Please contact us if you have any questions or need more information.
