Cow Leather, Cotton Lining, Metal Zips and Hardware

Leather is a natural, renewable material made from animal hides that have been preserved and softened through a tanning process. We select our leathers based on their properties and the intended application. Leather lasts a long time, ages well and is easy to care for and repair. Leather will develop patina over time and gets better with age.

Bharat have been making leather designs for us since 2017. Bharat are a larger operation and use their influence to improve their environmental and social performance.

This includes the use of rooftop solar energy to provide a portion of their electricity, and the use of air-conditioning wastewater to water the garden in the central courtyard of the factory. Bharat have also invested in new computerised technology for mapping and cutting pieces from leather hides. This increases energy efficiency, reduces waste, and minimises risk of worker injury at the cutting stage of production.

Bharat are members of the Worldly HIGG platform, where they report on electricity, water, waste and chemical impact. The factory also undergoes annual SMETA social compliance audits, which are conducted by a third party and provide transparency into worker wellbeing and wages.
