Main: 70% Organic Cotton 30% Polyester
Slip: 95% ECOVERO™ Viscose 5% Elastane
By combining the fibres of organic cotton and polyester, a special technique can be applied to this fabric called burnout, resulting in a textural grid pattern. Lightweight and breathable, this fabric is paired back with a slip made in a smooth, stretchy Lenzing™ ECOVERO™ blend.
Cotton is a natural plant fibre. It is known for being breathable, durable and soft. Organically grown cotton avoids the use of harmful pesticides and chemicals in the farming process, helping to maintain good soil health, protect waterways and reduce nitrogen pollution compared to conventional cotton. The cotton fibre in this fabric was organically grown in India.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose is a man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF), derived from wood pulp. It has a silk-like feel, fluid drape and comfortable breathability. LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibres are recognised by CanopyStyle and EU Ecolabel certification as meeting high standards for environmental practice. This includes a low risk of sourcing raw materials from ancient or endangered forests, and the recycling of water and chemicals in the processing stages. In addition to closed loop practices, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ aim to minimise the risk of pollution, through the cleaning of water before it is returned to nature, and engagement with ZDHC guidelines for safe chemical use. According to Higg's life cycle impact assessment data, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ branded viscose fibres generate up to 50% lower emissions and water impact compared to generic viscose.
Manufacturer: Jimmy Fashions (Zhejiang, China)
We have been working with Jimmy Fashions since 2010. They are a smaller, independent supplier with a focus on design and quality, and this is one of our longest standing supplier relationships. With owner Jimmy Shen and his team working closely with our Design and Production departments, this family-owned business has grown with ELK and now supplies much of our woven apparel.
In early 2024, Jimmy installed rooftop solar panels on his factory, and estimates more than 50% of the factory's electricity to come from this renewable source.
The factory also undergoes annual SMETA social compliance audits, which are conducted by a third party and provide transparency into worker wellbeing and wages.
The Grid Burnout Midi Dress is a knee-length, relaxed fit shell dress with a straight cut throughout the body. The accompanying slip dress is also a regular fit throughout.
Key fit points for this garment are the bust, hip, and length.
All garments are measured flat (not on body) and then doubled (except the length) to calculate the total circumference. To work out what size will suit you best, flat measure an item that fits you well and use this as a guide. Please contact us if you have any questions or need more information.
