The Clift Loafer is a classic flat loafer style with a low heel. This simple, no-fuss design has an interesting metallic leather upper detail. Crafted from sheep leather, this is a great all-day shoe.

Leather is a natural material made from animal hides that have been preserved and softened through a tanning process. We select our leathers based on their individual properties and the intended application.

Leather lasts a long time, ages well and is easy to care for and repair. Leather will develop patina over time and gets better with age.

Both the upper and leather lining on this style were sourced from Leather Working Group (LWG) audited and rated tanneries. LWG aims to improve the environmental impact of the leather industry by assessing and certifying leather manufacturers. The audit protocol covers energy use, waste, water use and chemicals, as well as traceability.

The sole of this style is made from 35% recycled rubber. Using recycled allows us to reduce the use of new resources, and contribute to a more circular textile industry.

Maker

We began working with Leiner Shoes in 2023. Located in India with facilities in Delhi and Agra, Leiner Shoes are and experiences footwear manufacturer in operation since 1989.

Leiner Shoes takes their social responsibility seriously, with a number of initiatives to support their workplace and local communities. They support a women's leadership program through the Diwa Welfare Trust and SAWF-IN, host an annual charity sale and donation drive to support transgender communities, and in addition hold SA8000 certification and undertake regular SMETA audits under their Sedex membership - proof of their commitment to socially responsible practices.

Leiner Shoes are also conscious to separate their waste mindfully to maximise recycling potential, and have implemented a rain water harvesting system.

Care Instructions

These leather shoes should be cleaned and conditioned with a neutral cream polish. Apply with a soft cloth and rub into dry or scuffed areas. Leather is a natural material and will age with wear. It is imperative that you avoid wetting or soaking these shoes in water as this will greatly affect the quality and appearance. The dye in the leather can sometimes rub off so please be aware of this when wearing light clothing or placing the leather item on light surfaces. The surface finish cannot be repaired once damaged.
