35% Viscose 35% Recycled Nylon 30% Merino Wool

Viscose is a man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF), derived from wood pulp. It has a silk-like feel, fluid drape and comfortable breathability. Through our work with not-for-profit organisation Canopy, we are sourcing more than 95% of our MMCF fibres from producers that have a dark green shirt rating according to the most current CanopyStyle Hot Button Report, which is the highest possible rating. This rating is a reflection of Canopy's assessment of the producers' engagement with CanopyStyle audits, their contribution to conservation, innovation initiatives, sourcing policies, transparency and chemical management.

Nylon is a synthetic, man-made fibre, which is both durable and easy to care for. Unlike its virgin counterpart, this recycled nylon is made from pre-consumer and post-consumer plastic waste which is deconstructed and then remanufactured into a textile fibre. Recycled nylon also has a lower carbon footprint compared to virgin nylon.

Wool is a natural animal fibre. It is known for maintaining warmth while offering breathability, making it a comfortable fibre for layering. The wool for this fibre has been sourced from South African farms that meet global best-practice standards for responsible husbandry practices which ensure that the sheep are treated with respect and that due environmental care of agricultural land, soil health, waterways and biodiversity is taken.

This knit was made by Cool Partners International who we have been working with since 2016. Knitwear production is highly specialised and Cool Partners are actively working with us to source more sustainable yarns from progressive yarn mills.

The factory is a member of Sedex and undergoes regular social compliance audits. They have also been partaking in ELK's Sustainability Action Plan program since early 2024, a collaborative initiative that focuses on advancing the factory's environmental and social practices.
