Viscose is a man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF), derived from wood pulp. It has a silk-like feel, fluid drape and comfortable breathability. Through our work with not-for-profit organisation Canopy, we are sourcing more than 95% of our MMCF fibres from producers that have a dark green shirt rating according to the most current CanopyStyle Hot Button Report, which is the highest possible rating. This rating is a reflection of Canopy's assessment of the producers' engagement with CanopyStyle audits, their contribution to conservation, innovation initiatives, sourcing policies, transparency and chemical management.

TENCEL™ Lyocell is a man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF), derived from wood pulp sourced from sustainably managed forests. It has a silk-like feel, fluid drape and comfortable breathability.

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are made using an environmentally responsible, closed loop production process, which transforms wood pulp into cellulosic fibres using high resource efficiency and low environmental impact compared to conventional methods of production. The spinning process recycles process water and reuses the solvent at a recovery rate of 99.8%.

Linen is a natural plant fibre, grown from the flax plant. The crop itself is naturally pest-resistant and requires minimal water to grow, meaning it demands fewer resources than crops such as conventionally-grown cotton.

Emerald Clothing are located in Indonesia, with ELK products are made at their factory PT Mataram Tunggal Garment. The company are measuring their environmental impact and have developed a mitigation plan, focused on reducing their impact in areas like electricity and water use.

The factory has a Sedex membership and undergoes regular social compliance audits, which are conducted by a third party and provide transparency into worker wellbeing and wages. They have also been partaking in ELK's Sustainability Action Plan program since early 2024, a collaborative initiative that focuses on advancing the factory's environmental and social practices.
