Modal is a man-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF), derived from wood pulp. TENCELâ„¢ Modal is produced by Lenzing Group and uses vertical integration to recover energy throughout the fibre production and spinning processes, to maximise resource use and reduce the fibre's environmental impact compared to conventional methods.

Through our work with not-for-profit organisation Canopy, we are sourcing more than 95% of our MMCF fibres from producers that have a dark green shirt rating according to the most current CanopyStyle Hot Button Report, which is the highest possible rating. This rating is a reflection of Canopy's assessment of the producers' engagement with CanopyStyle audits, their contribution to conservation, innovation initiatives, sourcing policies, transparency and chemical management.

Polyester is a synthetic, man-made fibre, which is both durable and easy to care for. Unlike its virgin counterpart, this recycled polyester is made from pre-consumer and post-consumer plastic waste which is deconstructed and then remanufactured into a textile fibre.

Recycled polyester also has a lower carbon footprint compared to virgin polyester.

The factory has a Sedex membership and undergoes regular social compliance audits, which are conducted by a third party and provide transparency into worker wellbeing and wages. They have also been partaking in ELK's Sustainability Action Plan program since early 2024, a collaborative initiative that focuses on advancing the factory's environmental and social practices.
